I know this was an old topic with the ps3 games but Compile Heart is doing a HD version of Rio Reincarnation with all three of the visual novels for ps4 for Japan on October 12. For all the DAL fans I feel this would be the perfect opportunity to localize it.

And I would love a LE, I'd definitely purchase 2, one to play and one to treasure.

It might motivate me to get a PS4.  Maybe even a PS4 and a 4K Televison.

I been wanting this for a long time. I didn't know that it was compile hearts that made it. I am a big fan of DaL and would really love this to make it to have an English translation ether for the Asia market or NA.

Lol you are a big fan and you didn't know CH was behind the game, Tsunako also does the art for the series (same artist as Neptunia). 

They keep saying they can't get the licence for us in the west. But I don't personally believe them.

One answer to this is "learn Japanese".

Start with the first half of the intro Japanese textbook and then you need just a little specialized vocabulary for video games and anime. 

There are many english phrases to begin with such as: "PRESS START" means "PRESS START" and "maido" means "maid" and "pantsu" means "panties" and "sex" means "sex".

Then there are words that are too informal or archaic to be in the textbook such as "Zakenna", "Goshojin-sama" and "Ojou" that will come up all the time.

Gun Gun Pixies is a good game to import;  I think it does have a plot but it will just make you feel bad if you know what it is so you can be happy and ignorant.

I expect to play more games in Japanese and probably go skiing for real in Japan next year.

yeah I am a bad fan of everything I like I normally don't really care for who makes it just that I enjoy the product. But Funimation has made both current seasons of DaL I have them both on Blueray. I don't know why they couldn't get the licence.

I guess I can devote some time in learning japanese and import the games from japan. that will take a wile though.

Neptunia also demonstrated the huge commercial potential of personifications and showed how to go about it systematically.  Thus Tsunako's work is an inspiration to Kantai Collection,  Kemono Friends, Fate Grand/Order,...

nice i like Kancolle and Kemono Friends too. Just wondering why is there a problem localizing Date-A-Live items? I have been searching the internet trying to figure it out but haven't found any reason for it. Not even the LNs are translated officially.

There's likely no "problem" beyond cost, especially in the case of DAL PS4, which is two full (and rather lengthy, I've played them both) VNs, plus a bonus scenario, translated in full, sold at the price of a single game, and likely not bought by nearly enough people to even break even on cost. LNs aren't usually picked up for a similar reason. The anime was licensed and dubbed, but no one ever picked up the Director's Cut episodes for S1 or the movie, so I don't think it was selling that well. The only other thing that maybe had a shot at being picked up was a manga, but the only manga it had (that I'm aware of) was cancelled due to problems with the quality.

Yeah I understand, Funimation didn't market the show very good too. made all the girls seem like Aliens and not spirits. They made it sound like a corny show from the start. [frown] 

I don't know maybe I can just import it and learn Japanese is the only answer.

It is amazing how many "classic" games such as Tokimeki Memorial have neither official nor unofficial translations despite being on the critical path of understanding the development of the Visual Novel.

I heard that Date-A-Live will be getting another game along with the Season 3 maybe we can possibly be able to port all the games in a bundle?

Doubt it. The Vita game was a bundle of the first two with a new scenario added on and ported from PS3, and the PS4 version was all of that ported over to another console. If IFI isn't willing to shell out the staff and cash for all that, another full game on top of it isn't going to be any more appealing to them from a business standpoint.

Personally I've seen alot of fans of DAL and most Neptunia fans would buy it I'm sure. Considering Aksys which is not as rich by any means has localised lots of otome games which are a very limited audience in the first place I honestly don't believe any excuse. 

Basically as Daverost says they aren't willing to pay, I mean their Amnesia release was a disaster, they pretty much doomed all future releases of the extra games because of poor PR and a LE with no physical game. They don't believe in VN's I think. And its such a shame considering even XSeed/Marvelous are giving it a go.

Looks like the madmen actually licensed it, but too bad they waited until Sony went bonkers to do it. The PS4 version will have two edited CGs. Unedited on Steam.

Will be getting the computer version not buying any more games on PS4 till they understand we are the customer and we do not like censorship. I usually would buy it on PS4 cause I like the controller. This makes me so happy. [love] Can the PC version have a collectors edition?

I' really glad they've finally decided to release I honestly wasn't expecting it since its been years of asking, it though if they had just released it on Vita we could of totally avoided this censorship, that being the 2 CG's and 2 illustrations removed. I guess we'll know about those and the rating in future, though I would be amused if it got a E rating like Nekopara. If anything if it doesn't that will be amazing.

are going to realize that Danganronpa has accomplished many things that "Interactive Fiction" theorists have dreamed about,  if only through trickery.  V3 is probably the first Vita game that I got a physical copy of through the normal North American supply chain.  The Vita might be on the way out but I think the die hards will get copies and there will be a day I get a PS4 or just install games on my PC.

"Amnesia" was not a strong game.  It was not terrible,  but not that great.  Also I think the branching story lines would be confusing for many people who are seeing a visual novel for the first time and easing westerners into it is important.

Part of the appeal of the Neptunia games is the production value of the visual novel parts is better than any actual visual novel.  Thus Idea Factory's brand is tied up in that and when they get a visual novel that is just average it looks like some Doujin crap.

Censorship bothers me less than many other things. 

In Danganronpa V3 I hope I won't spoil it for you that in one of the class trials a woman's lewd talk promotes another student to call here a  "cum dumpster";  I am not sure you can say in an "M" rated game!  A reviewer can call a few things like that out of context and not get that this is not a cultural norm expressed in the game but actually behavior that bothers the other students and it sure is a relief when she doesn't talk dirty anymore anymore because...

I expect that kind of talk in an anime like "Gakuen Saimin Reido"  Adjust a few words here and there and you could broaden the appeal without losing anything.
